If you have a fairly large home, you may considering going with a system that offers 24 hour monitoring, is this will ensure that your home is being carefully watched while you are away. The alarm company can tell you if anything looks suspicious, and they can also immediately alert the police if need be.

2. Aside from installing a home security system, it is also a good idea to alert a trustworthy neighbor that you will be out of town. A neighbor can keep an eye on your house and can make sure that nothing looks out of the ordinary, Make sure you give them the contact information for where they can reach you while you’re away, and also tell them exactly how long you will be gone for. Knowing that someone you trust is keeping an eye on your house will most certainly help you rest assured while you are on vacation.

3. Before you leave, you must also remember to temporarily cancel your newspaper subscription and have the post office put a hold on your mail. This may seem like a hassle, but nothing alerts a potential burglar that a homeowner is out of town quite like a driveway full of newspapers and a mailbox full of mail. You can continuing having them delivered as soon as you get back, and you will ultimately be glad that you took the time to take this important precaution.
